Trysail
Trysail is a small research group working across several areas of physics — including quantum information and gravity, cosmology, and biophysics. We approach problems with careful, intuitive reasoning, often at the boundaries between established fields.
How we work
We are a small, independent group of researchers rather than a formal institute. Each member pursues their own line of inquiry, and the group exists mainly as a way to think together, share tools across fields, and support work that doesn't sit neatly inside a single subfield.
Our individual projects span very different areas of physics, but share a common approach: start from first principles, follow the mathematics carefully, and stay open to ideas from adjacent fields when the standard toolkit runs out. Details on each member's background and research interests are on the Members page, and our current projects are listed under Research.
Why "Trysail"
A trysail is a small, reinforced sail a ship raises in rough weather — not for speed, but to hold a steady course. We thought it fit a group whose members often work in the less charted parts of physics.
